Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is the practice of designing a part's geometry, tolerances and material choices with awareness of how it will actually be produced, aiming to reduce cost, cycle time or risk without compromising the part's function. It typically involves feedback from manufacturing back to design, ideally before a design is finalized rather than after.
