What the drawing demands

AS9100 (current revision AS9100D) is the quality standard for the aerospace supply chain, above ISO 9001, with mandatory material traceability to heat or lot level. Every new or changed production, such as a new machine, fixture, tool, material supplier, or a production gap of more than two years, requires a first-article inspection under AS9102: each characteristic on the drawing is recorded with a measured value, across three forms (part, material, dimensional).
