During Dutch AI Week, we gained valuable insights into how larger organisations are progressing on their journey toward effective AI adoption. Representing Subduxion, Gijs van Loon and Tom Collaris spent the day engaging with leaders, innovators and academics who are actively shaping the future of applied AI in the Netherlands.

The event was excellently organised by Peter Brouwers, with strong contributions from Frans Feldberg, Ivana Nokolić and Willemijn van Oorsouw. Their perspectives added depth to discussions around strategy, governance and the practical realities of implementing AI within complex organisations.
Key themes from our conversations
Throughout the day, several recurring themes emerged in discussions with participating organisations:
Strategic direction: many companies are seeking clarity on where AI can create the highest value.
AI governance: there is a growing need for clear frameworks to innovate safely, responsibly and at scale.
AI literacy: teams increasingly want to understand how AI works, enabling better-informed decisions.
Cross-functional alignment: when IT, data and business teams operate from a shared vision, project success rates rise significantly, turning AI from isolated experiments into true organisational capability.

What stayed with us
At the time, Subduxion worked broadly on applied AI across sectors. What stood out from Dutch AI Week was not any single technology, but a set of principles that kept surfacing regardless of industry: start from a real decision instead of a generic use case, connect AI to the data that decision actually depends on, measure outcomes rather than demos, keep a human in control of anything consequential, and build governance into the system rather than around it.
Those principles still shape how we build today. Since then, we have focused them specifically on precision manufacturing: connecting AI to geometry, requirements and production data, and keeping estimators and manufacturing engineers in control of every decision it proposes.
